Operators need help from governments and regulators to build a truly supportive climate to back the spending required for 5G networks, the CTO of Proximus has claimed.
Speaking in an exclusive video interview at Mobile Europe’s CTO of the Year awards last month, Geert Standaert, who won the Regional CTO of the Year award, said a “holistic” approach was needed by regulators to ensure society could truly benefit from forthcoming technology.
Standaert said: “The investments we are making are not only to serve the needs of Proximus, [they are] to serve the needs of all the customers that are out there. This brand new technology, this innovative technology will bring so many opportunities across industries.”
Proximus’s CTO also talked about his award reflected a team effort and the changing landscape of the Internet of Things.
