A spectrum cap would enable a “truly competitive” market in the UK, the CTO of Three UK has claimed.
Speaking in an exclusive video interview at Mobile Europe’s CTO of the Year awards last month, Bryn Jones said the regulatory landscape needs to be reexamined so smaller players can get access to more spectrum.
Jones said: “If you don’t have an even, or fair, distribution of spectrum, the smaller operators without the spectrum will not be able to compete.”
Three’s attempts to buy rival O2 UK were rebuffed last year. Jones also discussed what that failure means for Three UK’s technology strategy.
