The new venture will be the centre of excellence for the Group’s cloud and edge computing solutions.
TIM’s new cloud entity, Noovle, will run on a network of 17 new, sustainable data centres in Italy. Its grand goal is to accelerate the country’s digitisation.
Noovle is wholly owned by the TIM Group, which has appointed Mariarosaria Taddeo as Non-Executive Chair and Carlo D’Asaro Biondo as CEO. Taddeo is an expert in digital technologies and AI, and Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Digital Ethics Lab at the Oxford Internet Institute, Oxford University. Carlo D’Asaro Biondo joined TIM last April to implement the Group’s cloud activities and its strategic partnerships, including with Google.
It will be group’s centre of excellence for cloud and edge computing, and is intended to boost TIM’s innovative public, private and hybrid cloud services to businesses of all kinds and sizes, as well as the public sector.
Building on cloud
Noovle Srl was acquired by TIM last May and is one of the main Google Cloud partners in the Italian market. In combination with appropriate TIM assets and the operators’ expertise, it will offer bespoke multicloud services and solutions to TIM’s customers.
They will range from the management of network infrastructure in its data centres, to design and support services, migration to the cloud and support for the related management activities, using the most advanced technologies based on AI and the IoT.
Noovle wants to support companies in their cloud transformation projects and guarantees all its services will have security at their core.
TIM will entrust Noovle with the task of building six new data centres optimised for the provision of public and hybrid cloud services, with TIER IV certification, and managing seven core data centres and four service centres, already in operation, for the widest range of IT solutions, located across the country.
