Telia Company has become the latest operator to launch voice over LTE to its consumer customers in Sweden.
An enterprise launch is expected next month, meaning Telia will no longer have its voice calls fall back onto 3G and 2G.
Telia said customers would now benefit from faster call connection and improved coverage on its network.
Jonas Hasselberg, Head of Telia’s Consumer Business in Sweden, said: “We are constantly working to improve and develop the mobile networks in Sweden and to increase the customer experience. We already have a world class mobile network and VoLTE is the next step to enable communication on our customer’s conditions.”
Customers with compatible Huawei, Samsung and Sony handsets will be the first to take advantage of the service. Telia said it would then roll out the service to other compatible handsets.
In Denmark, Three launched VoLTE last month and extended its voice over Wi-Fi service to a range of new smartphones, after first launching the service last year.
Also last month, O2 matched rivals EE and Three by launching its own native voice over LTE service.
