The move is part of a radical shake up by Telefónica Group after announcing a new strategy.
Enrique Blanco is also to lead a new Technology and Architecture unit, which will define the Group’s strategic technology guidelines.
Blanco has a long experience in the company, being responsible for technology both in Spain and internationally. He has held several positions in engineering, systems, networks and platforms, all of them promoting the technological leadership of Telefónica and ensuring the transformation of networks and infrastructures.
He will report to COO, Ángel Vilá
Blanco was recognised as CTO of the Year in 2014 by Mobile Europe and in 2019 by Total Telecom.
