Telefonica Business Solutions, the Spanish operator’s B2B arm, has signed a LTE strategic alliance deal with wholesale carrier provider BICS.
The partnership involved an IPX multiservice agreement, which Telefónica said would reinforce and improve its LTE coverage to customers across more than 230 countries.
The operator offers customers an LTE diameter exchange service, which it claimed provides a highly efficient and high quality service, as well as reducing its own time to market. The partnership with BICS will increase its global footprint by around 10 percent.
A spokesperson added: “This milestone will also guarantee an end–to-end Quality of Service (QoS) within a private IP environment.”
In January, BICS revealed wholesale roaming is now available in 126 countries, a 70 percent increase on last year.
The wholesale provider now has 325 operators using its IP exchange platform to offer customers LTE roaming.
Last summer, Proximus and SK Telecom became the first operators to hold a voice over LTE call using BICS’ IP exchange platform.
