    Telecom Italia launches turnkey IoT platform

    Telecom Italia Digital Solutions is offering customers a turnkey Internet of Things platform after signing a deal with Jasper to power its service.

    The operator said the cloud-based platform will allow companies to launch, manage and monetise IoT services. It said the platform would offer real-time updates, control, support diagnostics, billing and business automation.

    The operator added that the platform can be easily configured in order to meet the needs of its customers.

    Luigi Zabatta, Executive Director M2M & IoT Services at Telecom Italia Digital Solutions, said: “At Telecom Italia Digital Solutions we’re seeing huge thirst among the enterprise community to join the Internet of Things movement and to scale their deployments at will.

    “Jasper offers the expertise, capabilities, decade-long experience and established global enterprise relationships necessary to help us and our customers achieve scalability and speed to leadership in the business of digital transformation.”

    Ken Laversin, Global Vice President, Sales at Jasper, said: “Connectivity is an asset that can be leveraged in so many ways by so many types of business, and Telecom Italia Digital Solutions wants to lead the way in offering customers all they need to enable new benefits, increase customer value and generate new sources of revenue.”

    Jasper said more than 1,500 companies are using its platform to offer IoT services to their customers. Among the companies it works with are Telefónica, KPN, Telenor, AT&T and NTT DOCOMO.

    According to recent research from IDC, the IoT market is set to be worth almost €5.5 trillion by 2020, with the developed world accounting for more than 90 percent of installed units.
