Tele2 announces 5G roaming between Sweden and Latvia

    -

Tele2 announced a 5G roaming agreement between Tele2 Sweden and Tele2 Latvia after launching 5G in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo in May.

Roaming traffic is down significantly around the world due to the coronavirus pandemic. “As soon as the current travel restrictions are lifted, we look forward to [providing] our customers with high-speed connectivity also outside of Sweden,” commented Thomas Helbo, Executive Vice President Technology at Tele2.

He added, “We want to serve our customers’ continuously increasing need for connectivity and give them a superior mobile experience while travelling abroad.

“The launch of Sweden’s first 5G roaming agreement is an important milestone for the geographical expansion of 5G, and we will now continue to actively develop our 5G coverage and roaming capabilities.”
Tele2 said more international agreements are in the pipeline.

The Tele2 5G network offers 1 Gbps through 80 MHz bandwidth on the C-band. The 5G roll-out will continue successively throughout Sweden and the Baltics, the company said.
