Finland’s Elisa and Sweden’s Tele2 cooperate to offer one-stop, efficient service management for enterprises; Elisa demonstrates “world-first” 5G use cases
The concept is to provide tailor-made services to companies doing business in the Nordic countries: enterprise services and networks are seen by most operators are critical to monetising 5G.
Depending on company´s preferences, they can use local or global services. The collaboration also spans mobile services and roaming in both countries.
It means enterprises will only have to deal with one partner for communications and IT services in the Nordics. This will also enable common monitoring of enterprise applications.
The cooperation also allows Elisa and Tele2 to offer customers agile service management and rapid fault management if needed.
A good fit
The two say they are a good fit: Sweden is a large market with several enterprises doing business in Sweden, Finland and globally while Elisa has a global partner network strategy.
“With network automation and end-to-end service management, we are able to help customers monitor their business all around the Nordics”, says Timo Katajisto, Executive VicPresident, Corporate Customers at Elisa.
According to Fredrik Stenberg, Director Large Enterprise at Tele2, “The collaboration with Elisa will enable our enterprise customers to use our services for unlimited communication in the Nordic countries.
“Elisa is the first operator in Finland to launch 5G. Combined with our outstanding fixed and mobile network, I’m convinced that we together will become a very strong and attractive player in Nordic telecom market, says Fredrik Stenberg, Director Large Enterprise at Tele2.
Telia and Telenor announced a successful network-sharing trial today, which they intend to expand, including in the Nordic region.
5G use cases
The Elisa 5G Showroom displays nine 5G solutions and services, of which its claims there were world firsts:
• Reliable remote control heavy machines even in challenging terrain – a tractor with 5G and a 360 camera, developed and built by Valtra and Elisa, is in Raisio, about 150 km from Helsinki, remotely controlled from Pasila, Helsinki. The remote driver has a full, real-time view of the environment through the 360 camera installed on the tractor’s to provide a 4K view of the landscape.
• Mobile 5G app to review 3D models in real time
for various industries including construction: a building’s design, construction and furnishing can be streamed to a mobile app, eveloped by Elisa and Aalto University, via the cloud. This allows 3D models to be viewed from many angles by touching the screen, even though each model might be several gigabytes. The aim is to speed up the bulding process through this remote monitoring.
• Safer rescue operations through 360 live streaming of virtual reality with 8K resolution.
The video is broadcasted from a bird’s-eye view for situations that need high-quality and wide vision of surroundings. Events recorded by a drone can be viewed from exactly from the angle needed to aid emergency services and rescue operatrions. The live drone video stream from the seashore at Jätkäsaari, Helsinki can be viewed through VR glasses in the Elisa 5G Showroom.
