Tata Communications has teamed up with China Telecom to deliver new media and entertainment services to global customers using its Video Connect platform.
China Telecom will use Tata Communications’ technology to deliver live broadcasts of sporting events happening in its home market.
Tata’s Video Connect service consists of an end-to-end managed, Dynamic synchronous transfer mode (DMT) network based on Tata’s fibre backbone.
DMT technology supports media interfaces including DVB-ASI, SD-SDI and HD-SDI, ensuring high quality of service and minimal packet loss for “seamless” global connectivity, Tata said.
The offering forms part of Tata’s recent-launched Media Ecosystem, which provides asset and workflow management, cloud-based layout, automation and control, storage and OTT platforms as a service.

In return, Tata said it would be able to leverage China Telecom’s video network to give its customers access to new global broadcasters, media and entertainment providers.
