    T-Mobile Polska completes wholesale fibre access deal with Vectra Group

    The deal means the telco can now reach around 10m households with bundles in Poland 

    T-Mobile has signed a deal with Vectra Group that will see it sell retail services under its own brand in Vectra’s wholesale HFC access network. Vectra is T-Mobile’s fifth fibre partner including Orange, Światłowód (Fibre) Inwestycje, Nexera and Fiberhost. 

    “Ultimately, the agreement with Vectra will give us access to four million households to which we can offer our telecommunications services. Together with the contracts already signed, our potential grows to ten million households within reach, not counting the network overlays of our wholesale partners,” T-Mobile Polska CEO Andreas Maierhofer told telco.in.  

    Maierhofer said the telco’s aim was to reach as many people as it could to offer converged bundles including broadband and IPTV. He added that the wholesale market’s noticeable development has led to a big increase in customers using services based on bitstream access – up 36.7% in 2022 YoY to 1.13m. 

    He suggested that while there is some overlap between existing wholesale partner networks, for T-Mobile, it can choose the best tech, HFC or fibre, for the customer base per region while getting the most favourable price choice for the carrier.   

    According to telco.in, T-Mobile is Vectra’s first serious wholesale partner. Previously, Play had sold some white-label services, but this stopped when Play purchased UPC Polska. 

    “For the Vectra Group, this is a strategic partnership that not only strengthens our position as a key infrastructure supplier in Poland, but also proves that such a large operator as T-Mobile appreciates our quality and treats it as a priority – in significant areas we are its supplier first choice,” said Vectra Group board member Tomasz Żurański.  

    “We are constantly developing and modernizing our infrastructure to provide the highest quality services and increase availability for additional operators and millions of customers,” he added.’ 

    New aggressive bundles 

    T-Mobile’s latest wholesale partnership coincides a new Magenta Dom bundled offer, where customers can save up to PLN1,560 during the term of their contracts by choosing a package of home services including fibre optic internet, television and mobile subscriptions.  

    By transferring or buying three mobile subscriptions to T-Mobile in its “M Unlimited” tariff (with unlimited calls, SMSs, MMSs and unlimited internet with a speed of up to 30Mbps) or “L Unlimited” (with unlimited calls, SMSs, MMSs and internet without data and speed limits), customers can get 300Mbps fibre optic internet and TV S package for free for two years. 

    People who decide to transfer or buy two mobile subscriptions in the “M Unlimited” or “L Unlimited” tariffs will receive the telco’s TV S package and 300 Mbps optical fibre for 18 months for free. Transferring one number will get the deal for 12 months.  

    T-Mobile is also encouraging people to port their mobiles by offering no-fees for various time periods up to two years, depending on whether the customer ports or buys one, two three or four services and takes the “M Unlimited” tariff.  

    Despite Poland being one of the cheaper broadband markets in Europe, competition is still fierce and although some retailers have been able to raise prices recently, the operators are still looking to poach customers from each other with attractive bundles like T-Mobile’s latest offer. For example, Play recently removed 5G data limits and launched a range of Homebox subscription offers to woo wavering customers.
