Rakuten Symphony signs MOU with VIVA Bolivia for network modernisation

-

Rakuten Symphony has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with VIVA Bolivia to modernise its network.

The partnership will start in Bolivia, with the companies looking at a range of technologies and services, including Open RAN, OSS, cloud infrastructure, professional services and AI-enabled digital platforms.

The company revealed One of the first priorities will be assessing cloud-native technology that could make VIVA’s network easier to operate and give the operator more flexibility to introduce new digital services.

The agreement follows a series of executive and technical discussions between the two companies, which resulted in an initial roadmap for the partnership.

The companies are now progressing toward planning and validation for the first phase of the strategic collaboration, they revealed.

Rakuten Symphony, President Sharad Sriwastawa, said: “Operators are looking beyond network modernisation to create more agile platforms that support new services, better customer experiences and sustainable business growth.

“With a cloud-native network and AI-driven operations, VIVA will gain the flexibility to innovate faster with a platform to deliver the next generation of digital services.”

VIVA Bolivia, CEO, Ryan Alvarez, said: “Modernising our network in Bolivia is not a single project, but the foundation of a larger journey. VIVA is evolving into a digital ecosystem where connectivity, commerce, payments and personalized services come together in one experience for our customers.

“Collaborating with Rakuten Symphony gives us a cloud-native platform to launch new services faster, improve the customer experience and operate more efficiently, and Rakuten’s own path from online services into mobile is a model we know works.”
