Oracle has launched a new service offering out of the box virtualised VoLTE and VoWiFi.
The vendor’s Evolved Communications Application Server enables IMS core interoperability and features Oracle’s Core Session Manager, which allows operators to rapidly deploy advanced voice services on LTE networks.
Oracle said the solution allows operators to upgrade its network using “drag and drop” functionality, which it said removes the need for coding or vendor customisation.
The solution supports enhanced Single Radio Voice Call Continuity, allowing calls to be handed over without dropping. Oracle added that its NFV environment would allow operators to use automated deployment capabililities across testing, staging, and production, which would speed up the roll out of voice services.
Diane Myers, Research Director, Infonetics Research, said: “The rapid growth of 4G LTE in mobile networks is exposing a real need for delivery of IMS-driven services. Oracle Communications Evolved Communications Application Server is a good fit for VoLTE and VoWi-Fi, and because of its design, it aligns nicely with the CSP’s goal of increased service agility.”
Steve Aulds, Vice President of Products, Oracle Communications, added: “Oracle Communications Evolved Communications Application Server brings the speed of innovation with the low cost profile typically seen in IT initiatives, yet it can deliver the performance of a CSP network appliance.
“This is the ideal complement to our converged application server, API exposure platform, and session delivery infrastructure, which CSPs around the world have embraced for nearly a decade.”
Last week, UK operator Three said it was planning to launch voice over LTE this autumn.
