Three Ireland is simplifying its radio access network operations by hiring Nokia to run its multi-technology, multi-vendor hardware.
The five year managed services agreement will see Nokia upgrade Three Ireland’s radio access network and also use its management tools and processes to run it.
The vendor will offer real-time remote support from its Global Delivery Centre in Lisbon, allowing it implement new network technology quicker. Nokia will also provide management of the network from within the Republic of Ireland.
The deal is an extension of Nokia’s existing network management contract with Three Ireland. As part of the new deal, Nokia will also use its NetAct operations support system to capture and process network data.
David Hennessy, Chief Technology Officer at Three Ireland, said: “We are committed to delivering the best possible service for our customers. By moving to one managed services supplier across our radio access network, we will have a more transparent structure, simplifying operations and enhancing network performance.”
John Ward, Customer Business Team head, Hutchison UK and Ireland at Nokia, said: “Nokia is very pleased to continue our long standing relationship with Three Ireland. With this deal we show our strength in multi-vendor managed services and our ability to swiftly implement the centralised managed services infrastructure that many operators want to achieve.”
Late last month, Nokia won a network deal with Three Ireland sister company Hutch 3 Indonesia.
