    Nokia adds wind beneath its IoT WING with new consultation, testing services

    Nokia has expanded its Internet of Things network-as-a-service offering to include consultation and multi-vendor testing.

    The Finland-based vendor’s WING offering launched earlier this year and is aimed at helping operators and enterprises deliver IoT solutions more quickly and easily.

    A new consultation service identifies opportunities for service providers within nine segments: connected cars, health, logistics and transport, smart cities, utilities, agriculture, retail, smart homes and buildings, and industrial.

    Once a specific market has been identified, Nokia handles the likes of provisioning, device management, operations, security, customer services and billing for the network.

    Nokia has also launched multi-vendor testing in partnership with its TestHub arm for operators and enterprises to trial a range of technologies and products ahead of implementation.

    It said multi-vendor testing is “essential” to the successful rollout of the Internet of Things as well as cloud and forthcoming 5G networks.

    It added it would also give customers early access to devices and expertise from the company to give customers the opportunity to trial new hardware, software and solutions.

    Friedrich Trawoeger, Head of Managed Services at Nokia, said: “IoT deployments are complex, but with our help operators will be able to fast-track their entry into the market as we provide them not only with a ready-to-go-market and business model, but also with a pre-integrated IoT infrastructure, complete service model and go-to-market support services. With our testing services we can ensure smooth launches for our customers, which are critical to maintaining great experience for their customers.”

    In May, Nokia announced it was partnering with the Smart Tampere project, which aims to explore IoT opportunities.
