Virtualization brings the promise of renewed competitiveness to telecom operators, allowing them to move forward with agility, speed and cost savings. As with all new technologies, it requires changes in how operators manage their business processes in procurement, planning and operations. This paper discusses operator process and the virtualized solutions that are available without waiting for the NFV ecosystem, when existing solutions delivering most of the advantages of the NFV, such as cost reduction, OPEX/CAPEX savings and elasticity, today.
