Mavenir takes over Stoke for small cell, Asia push

    -

Mavenir is set to take over mobile gateway business Stoke in a bid to expand its global footprint, improve its product portfolio and enter the small cell market.

The software company said it is keen to extend its reach into Asia, with Stoke’s customers including NTT DOCOMO and Softbank among its customers. It also works with integrators such as Net One and Macnica in Japan and Samsung in South Korea.

Mavenir said it is keen to extend its 4G LTE products into Asia but also add Stoke’s own security gateway into its portfolio.

Pardeep Kohli , President and Chief Executive Officer, Mavenir Systems, said: “Upon completion of this acquisition, Mavenir will be expanding our portfolio and enhancing our expertise in security technologies at a critical juncture in 4G LTE network evolution. The transition to all-IP requires robust, high-performance security solutions at the access and interconnect points to 4G LTE networks.

“Combined with our Session Border Controller (SBC) and evolved Packet Data Gateway (ePDG), Stoke’s LTE Security Gateway (SEG) enables Mavenir to deliver a complete, secure, end to end solution to our customers globally.”

Kohli added that the acquisition was a central part of its growth plans by giving it an entry into the small cells market, as wel as the Japan and South Korea regions. He said: “Stoke brings a strong team that understands the global security gateway market. We are delighted to have them join the Mavenir team.”

The takeover is expected to be formally completed by the end of next week.
