Liberty Global has released a mobile app for its customers to automatically connect to 10 million of its Wi-Fi hotspots, and check data and devices hooked up its their home network.
The Connect App, which runs on Android and iOS, has already been rolled out to Liberty’s customers under the UPC brand in Austria and Switzerland. It will hit the operator’s 10 other markets early next year.
Among the features of the app is the ability to find out where the strongest Wi-Fi signal is at a customer’s home and also to identify deadspots. Users can also share Wi-Fi passwords through WhatsApp or a dedicated QR code, as well as restrict internet access at certain times of the day. The app also provides a guide on how to set up broadband and optimise coverage.
Outside of a customer’s home, the app displays more than 10 million hotspots across Europe and automatically connects when nearby.
Doron Hacmon, Liberty Global’s Chief Product Officer, said: ‘From installing their router to checking their monthly mobile usage, this app really puts our customers in the driver’s seat. Providing all these features within one innovative app means our customers get the most out of all the services we offer, both in and out of the home.
“This is just the beginning and we will continue to add even more features and functionality to ensure the app provides a range of great, up-to-date connectivity services.”
Liberty said the app was the latest addition to its Connect Box ecosystem, which was launched in 2015 and includes a modem and boosters.
