ip.access and Amdocs push for connectivity with new team-up

    -

Small cells provider ip.access has teamed with Amdocs to accelerate the rollout of small cell technology amongst enterprises.

The collaboration aims to simplify and speed up the deployment of small cell networks in order to help boost the performance of mobile coverage in the workplace.

The partnership will see ip.access supply its portfolio of indoor small cells, access points and optimisation tools with Radio Access Network (RAN) backhaul deployment services provided by Amdocs.

Amdocs will also supply its Network Rollout Solution, which it claimed would simplify the process of upgrading operator networks with small cell technology.

Rebecca Prudhomme, VP of Product and Solutions Marketing at Amdocs, said: “The agreement with ip.access will not only vastly improve operators’ ability to upgrade their networks with greater proficiency and speed, but it also seeks to address the industry-wide issue of rolling out small cell solutions to enterprises in greater volume.

“Amdocs’ Network Rollout solution cuts the time and cost of network deployment by up to 25 per cent, and accelerates time to market, while reducing the project risk and potential human error that can occur with a small cell roll-out.”

Small cells allow operators to offload cellular traffic onto low-powered in-building nodes, easing network congestion whilst also boosting indoor coverage.

The technology has been the subject of a number of major investments by vendors recently, including Nokia Networks and Huawei.

In November last year, ABI forecast the small cell backhaul equipment market to surpass €4 billion in 2019.
