The altnet is building out fibre for homes and businesses across the North West of England and the Midlands
Freedom Fibre, an altnet in the UK, chose Inmanta Connect to scale its network operations, speed service provisioning and deliver “best-in-class experience” to customers.
Inmanta Connect is a ready-to deploy solution to orchestrate fixed-line services like FTTx. Investments in fibre access networks have skyrocketed as countries scramble to build out digital infrastructure.
The land grab has resulted in greater complexity as the networks are multi-vendor and multi-technology environments, for instance, including combinations of passive optical networks, Ethernet and cable. Inmanta Connect is designed for such ecosystems.
Freedom Fibre is a FTTP wholesale provider which is building a full-fibre network across the North West of England and the Midlands. It merged with VX Fibre UK earlier this year. Its retail service provider customers include its own, new subsidiary, LilaConnect. Its network has passed more than 300,000 premises.
It also expects to expand its footprint by winning contracts as part of the government’s Project Gigabit which are awarded by Building Digital UK. Freedom Fibre is already rolling out gigabit-capable broadband in North Shropshire and will start work in rural Cheshire at the beginning of 2025.
David Hough, Network Operations Director at Freedom Fibre, commented, “As the market undergoes significant consolidation, we strongly believe that service orchestration is strategic to meet the growing demands of our customers and stay ahead in the competitive landscape of broadband services. The flexible and vendor-agnostic solution by Inmanta is the right match for our heterogeneous and evolving network.”
Stefan Walraven, CEO of Belgian firm Inmanta, added, “Inmanta empowers [customers] to reap the benefits of automation within months thanks to our intent-based and vendor-agnostic orchestrator.”
