Huawei has built a “one-stop” IoT solution with Software AG as part of a number of new IoT-related projects.
The China-based vendor has teamed up with the Germany-based enterprise software business to create a platform for businesses.
The companies said it had been designed to enable businesses to develop digital products or services based on the IoT.
It offers services including streaming analytic capabilities at the edge of the IoT to provide maximum speed and flexibility to applications.
From Huawei’s side, this will include its hardware and software offerings for Cloud and Edge computing and its Open IoT Platform and Network Infrastructure capabilities. Software AG will provide streaming analytics, hybrid enterprise integration and predictive analytics.
Huawei also unveiled a new IoT Gateway that can collect and analyse data from buildings to provide detection and decision-making capabilities to customers.
It combines Huawei’s IoT gateway and Agile Controller, Tridium’s Niagara Framework IoT middleware platform with sensors, control devices and a building management system.
The vendor also signed partnerships to target new IoT-based industrial areas.
These included a new memorandum of understanding with MetaSystem Italy to develop connected car applications and end-to-end usage-based insurance (UBI) solutions for the industry.
The two companies will integrate MetaSystem’s connected car devices and applications with Huawei’s OceanConnect IoT platform to provide end-to-end UBI solutions.
In addition, Huawei plans to collaborate with manufacturer Honeywell on smart building offerings that use the IoT to make buildings more secure and energy efficient.
This will include jointly pursuing large-scale smart city projects to help city administrators control costs and improve quality when designing buildings.
The two companies will jointly explore business opportunities, particularly in China, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.
The vendor made the IoT-related announcements at the CeBIT conference in Germany, an event which also saw Huawei launching its next-generation Enterprise Wireless Communications solution.
This will allow enterprises to deploy their own integrated wireless communications system to support production, operation, management and office administration.
It combines wireless communications technologies to communicate on both licensed and unlicensed bands. Huawei said it was designed to offer the reliability and integration advantages of cellular mobile communications while ensuring service availability by using the unlicensed spectrum.
The solution can support both narrowband and broadband services.
