The GSMA has announced that its theme for Mobile World Congress 2013 will be 'The New Mobile Horizon'. The Association said it is expecting more than 70,000 visitors to its event, which is moving to a new home in 2013 at the Fira Gran Via, and will run from 25-28 February.
In addition to 10 keynote sessions, the 2013 conference will include tracks exploring topics such as applications, business strategy, cloud computing, connected living, developing markets, devices, mobile advertising, mobile health, mobile money, next-generation technologies, NFC, OSS/BSS and social media.
As well as the usual clutch of operator CEOs, confirmed keynote speakers for Mobile World Congress 2013 include Gary Kovacs, CEO of Mozilla, the company that announced it would develop an html5-based "OS" at 2012's World Congress. There is also a beefed up Ministerial Programme, designed to bring together governments, regulators and industry leaders to discuss the specific regulatory issues shaping the development of mobile around the world.
There will be 1,500 exhibiting comapnies, the GSMA said, laying out their wares in the new exhibition hall spaces. The App Planet (termed the Centre of the Apps Universe) returns for a fourth year, and includes 200 app-specific exhibitors.
As well as these elements there will be a Forum Series to explore LTE, Mobile Cloud and Mobile Security. The advertsing-based programme, mPowered Brands: Accelerating Mobile Marketing, also returns.
