Bouygues Telecom has been named best operator in France for LTE coverage in 2018, while SFR was named best network for LTE-A coverage.
The ranking is created by internet speed test site nPerf. Results were based on approximately two billion measures collected from over 143,000 Android devices through the nPerf app.
Coverage was assessed where devices actually connect to networks. Therefore, dense-usage areas outweighed other locations, regardless of the LTE population coverage based on the number of inhabitants.
LTE and LTE-A
In the index combining LTE and LTE-A measures, Bouygues Telecom had a top score of 90.50%, narrowly beating competitors SFR and Orange, who scored 89.97 and 88.28% respectively. In fourth place was Free Mobile’s network at 79.09%, reflecting the smaller cell site footprint of the operator last year.
In the assessment of LTE-A coverage, SFR achieved a score of 66.64%, ahead of Bouygues Telecom, Free Mobile and Orange who each came in at 64.29%, 62.53% and 57.05% respectively.
Rankings have also been published on a regional level, with users in Ile de France getting the best LTE and LTE-A coverage.
