The vendor is to deliver greater capacity and automation to support residential broadband and applications like Industry 4.0.
Nokia announced it has been selected by Deutsche Telekom (DT) as a long-term strategic partner “to transform the operator’s optical network into a service-centric platform that can easily scale to meet Industry 4.0 demands”.
This will enable the operator to provide better network experience to its customers with more capacity, scalability and automation.
DT will also benefit from leveraging automation to simplify and streamline operational tasks, and make more efficient use of network resources.
Platforms
The deployment will include the Nokia WaveFabric service-ready platforms and Nokia WaveSuite software portfolio, which includes the Nokia 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) powered by the PSE-V family of coherent digital signal processors.
They will upgrade the network’s optical core and strategic regional distribution sites to optimise performance and consistency across Germany.
