DT joins the services bonanza spawned by the pandemic

    -

Deutsche Telekom (DT) is adding SkyKick Cloud Backup to its Microsoft service portfolio, with “even higher security standards” plus support to set it up.

DT acknowledges that business customers automatically back up data from Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange Online, SharePoint and OneDrive, but says there are many scenarios that can lead to a loss of data in corporate networks. They range from infection by malware to accidental deletion by employees.

This is the latest new service to be offered by an operator to meet the new needs of workers in era of coronavirus when many are working from home indefinitely.

    GDPR compliance

With SkyKick, companies that do not already have an integrated cloud backup can secure the data from Microsoft 365 applications and DT highlights the need for businesses to comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation which stipulates companies must be able to recover personal data at any time.

SkyKick’s solution helps to recover data, that have been deleted accidentally or otherwise. In the event of a malware infection, data can be restored to its state before the infection. The software automatically detects email boxes, SharePoint pages and OneDrive content.

The system relies on a 256-bit key and backs data up automatically up to six times a day. No installation or separate operation is required to set up SkyKick Cloud Backup. The TelekomCLOUD Expert Service helps companies to set up the SkyKick Cloud Backup and in determining individuals’ backup settings.
