BT is recruiting 900 security specialists this year as it looks to bolster its anti-cybercrime offering.
The operator said 170 of the new posts will go to graduates and apprentices that have been training in its Security Academy. They have been learning about physical security, penetration testing, threat intelligence, risk management, and sales.
It already employs more than 2,500 security professionals with dedicated operations centres located globally. Sales from security services have been growing at a double digit rate, it said.
BT’s work in this area covers consumer, business and governmental needs, from anti-virus and parental controls to complex security solutions deployed by multinationals.
The majority of roles will be located at BT’s security operation centres in London, Sevenoaks and Cardiff. However, BT added that it wanted to grow its teams across Continental Europe, the Americas, Middle East and Asia Pacific.
