Boosting digital connectivity across South Eastern Europe

EXA Infrastructure and Grid Telecom join forces to provide services anchored in Greece, establishing a critical link to the broader Balkans and Mediterranean

EXA Infrastructure and Grid Telecom, a subsidiary of Greece’s independent power transmission operator (IPTO) have announced a strategic partnership. Their aim is to boost digital connectivity and provide infrastructure services anchored in Greece, establishing a critical link to the broader Balkans and Mediterranean.

    Complementary assets

The two complement each other as EXA Infrastructure describes itself as “the largest dedicated digital infrastructure platform connecting Europe and North America”. The partnership is part of EXA’s continuing expansion across the Mediterranean.

Grid Telecom’s aim is to be the prime wholesaler in the Greek market by exploiting the IPTO’s extensive optical network and integrating it with its own fibre links and points of presence.

The combination is intended to create a diverse network with very low latency, and set up a new carrier neutral, open-access, connectivity hub in the region.

In particular, the partnership expects to provide wholesale and corporate customers with diverse, open-access interconnection and international reach across Europe and beyond. They will collaborate to set up new low latency, high capacity data routes, that offer plentiful redundancy, cyber security and high capacity.

    New corridors

EXA Infrastructure’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nicholas Collins, said, “Our strategic partnership with Grid Telecom is a major step into delivering our vision and growth plans… Our combined forces will create and support an important new telecommunications corridor to enable our customers to scale and grow in the broader region.”

George Psyrris, MD of Grid Telecom, added, “The collaboration…between EXA Infrastructure and Grid Telecom will enable them to provide total solutions to their customers, leveraging on their extensive experience and expertise.

“The strategic cooperation with EXA, is in line with Grid Telecom’s strategy to strengthen its infrastructure, expanding its international network, and increasing its entry points to Western Europe.”
