The MIT spin-off has deployed AI-enabled IoT systems in 16 US states and other countries to improve the efficiency and safety of roads
AT&T Ventures and e& Capital are investing in Derq, which offers “real-time AI-powered intelligent transportation systems (ITS)” for roads. The investment will be used to expand Derq’s activities in the US, the Gulf Cooperation Council (Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates), and beyond.
It will also help Derq expands its intellectual property portfolio. Derq is an award-winning spin-off from MIT.
Derq aims to address immediate the safety and efficiency of roads and lay the groundwork for a safer, more efficient roads in future by integrating AI and IoT with connected infrastructure and sensing technologies. Derq’s platform offers road owners and operators road safety insights, traffic control and connected vehicles applications.
Derq has more than 25 active deployments in 16 states across the US and in other countries. The US Department of Transportation named Derq as a winner of the agency’s Intersection Safety Challenge and as one of its Allies in Action when Derq joined the National Roadway Safety Strategy (NRSS).
