Mobile Organizer offers ‘push’ access to PIM applications

    -

The latest release of Ericsson Mobile Organizer (EMO) improves the simplicity and convenience of mobile working by offering smartphone users secure ‘push’ access to all their Personal Information Management (PIM) applications – e-mail, contacts, calendar and meeting requests. The new version of the highly successful application, EMO 5.1, enables mobile users to keep fully up to date without any need for proprietary hardware, special devices or operator tie-ins.

With the addition of real-time, over-the-air synchronization of
contacts, searching the enterprise’s global address list for e-mail addresses and accepting or declining meeting requests, EMO 5.1 provides more push PIM functionality for users of Symbian smartphones and Microsoft Windows Mobile smartphones or PDAs. E-mail, calendar updates, meeting requests and contact updates are automatically delivered to the user via the mobile network. Changes on the mobile
device are instantly mirrored on the user’s desktop, and vice  versa.

Users of EMO 5.1 can now search for e-mail and meeting request recipients from the enterprise’s global address list. EMO 5.1 Enterprise and Professional editions support Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino environments.

EMO 5.1 supports important enterprise-grade security features such as end-to-end data encryption, device data encryption and strong authentication. In addition, EMO can be deployed together with Ericsson’s Mobile Device Management solution, which enables all PIM data to be completely removed ‘over the air’ in the event of loss or theft.

“These latest enhancements show how we are continually building on our successful EMO solution to offer enterprise users even greater simplicity and convenience as they work on the move,” said David Ekberg, Director Mobile Data Solutions, Ericsson Enterprise. “What’s more, enterprises appreciate the availability of complete solutions that offer simplicity, openness, low cost of ownership and security.”

EMO minimizes total cost of ownership by eliminating the need for special mobile devices or servers, and using mobile bandwidth effectively through compression, truncation and control of downloaded data. E-mail attachments can be downloaded, read and edited by the user. Installation and maintenance are also designed to be as straightforward as possible.
