3GSM NEWS: ACE-COMM adds Content Patrol filtering and dynamic management to Patrol suite of managed mobility carrier service

    -

New platform-independent product, debuting at 3GSM World Congress, uniquely delivers revenue, differentiation and personalisation leadership to wireless service providers

ACE-COMM, a global provider of service delivery solutions and advanced operations support systems (OSS) for telecommunications providers and enterprises, has announced the launch of Content Patrol, ACE-COMM’s latest addition to the Patrol Suite of optimised mobility and personalisation carrier services.  Content Patrol is a mobile content filtering service and personalisation engine that enables wireless carrier subscribers to easily choose and control the types of material they see on their mobile devices.

Content Patrol comes to market to address the subscriber appreciation of, and demand for, content filtering as a valuable service in an age of hyper convergence.  As mobile handsets increasingly become online content-delivery tools, Content Patrol allows the service provider to offer a variety of high-demand, revenue-generating content along with the balancing effect of filtering controls to ensure that parents, enterprises and highly mobile individuals can block content they find intrusive or offensive.

Additionally, industry watchdog organisations, including those representing European mobile providers and multinational child protection agencies, have banded together to advance initiatives such as the February 6 European Safer Internet Day 2007 to bring greater scrutiny and management to the free flow of unfiltered content to handsets in the possession of minors.  In this climate of heightened demand for highly personalised and customisable consumer controls, Content Patrol affords a simple, platform-independent path toward differentiation in a carrier’s suite of value added services.

“Carriers and subscribers are increasingly challenged to serve as a safety net for young and sensitive mobile consumers, and sometimes this challenge may seem to threaten a young person’s access to personal devices.  We don’t believe consumers should have to choose between the utility of a handset and the well being of children,” said Chris Couch, chief marketing officer at ACE-COMM.  “This philosophy is reflected in the design of all the personalisation applications that comprise our Patrol Suite of managed mobility offerings.  The unique content management enabled by the new Content Patrol is unsurpassed in its facility to personalise and control content on any handheld device, and across converged-media platforms and formats, including video, text, data and more.”

Content Patrol can function independently, or as an adjunct to other Patrol Suite access-control products, including Parent Patrol and Enterprise Patrol.  It harnesses multiple content-categorisation engines combined with Patrol Suite personalisation models to create content filtering paradigms for almost any scenario.  All common data services are supported, including Mobile Web, WAP, SMS, MMS and more.  Its filtering controls can be deployed across the entire network, or to specific customers on either a personalised or profile basis.
