The deal covers the roll out new 450 MHz LTE infrastructure for mass volume IoT and mission-critical data coverage.
Nokia announced an agreement with the Danish operator and internet service provider (ISP) Cibicom to implement a new 450MHz LTE (4G) network to replace the operator’s existing networks.
The project is to ensure that mission-critical services throughout the country have access to reliable and secure connectivity, and pave the way for mass volume IoT adoption.
Cibicom acquired the 450mHz license last June, and should enable Cibicom to improve its service to utility companies and ensures it is in a stronger position to adapt to customers’ changing requirements, and new opportunities and application support around 5G 3.5GHz.
Cibicom’s is a leading supplier of critical and business-critical infrastructure, such as waste, water, energy, and transportation. Smart grids and remote managed petrol stations are just some of the areas where these systems will be needed, as well as the police and ambulance services.
Currently, Cibicom covers 98% of Denmark and the deal will maintain that level of coverage, as well as provide improved connectivity for private households in neighboring Greenland.
