Air Europa adopts Telefónica’s Movistar Living Apps to boost customer experience

    -

Telefónica has launched new data and artificial-intelligence-based products and services for the corporate sector at its latest LUCA Innovation Day.

The slogan for the third edition of the event in Madrid was Artificial is natural. LUCA is Telefónica’s big data, analytics and AI division.

New solutions presented included Movistar Living Apps, which Telefónica says are a “firm commitment” to opening up its home technology ecosystem so that companies can create new experiences for Telefónica customers.

Movistar Living Apps run simultaneously through the various Telefónica devices that customers have in their homes, such as the TV, router or the Movistar Home hub, which incorporates the Aura digital assistant to allow users to manage all their apps with voice.

“Thanks to the transformation promoted within Telefónica with the use of artificial intelligence (AI), we can now share our knowledge with our corporate clients by helping them build their own AI and create experiences on one of our great pillars: our customers’ homes,” said Chema Alonso, Chief Data Officer at Telefónica.

    Air Europa onboard

Spanish tourism company Globalia has committed to using the Movistar ecosystem with its airline, Air Europa.

Jose Carlos Díaz Lacaci, Director of Transformation for the Globalia group, said, “Joining the Movistar Living Apps project is a step further towards improving the customer experience that we consider to be key in the transformation process in which we are immersed.

“In particular, we offer Air Europa’s nearly 12 million customers the ability to book their flights or select their seats by voice commands, simply and without having to leave the comfort of their sofa.

“In addition, applying artificial intelligence will allow us to customise the customer’s trip according to their preferences and in real-time.”

Telefónica says it will progressively expand the range of customer home experiences via Movistar Living Apps, and is looking at proposals in areas such as sports, online purchases and travel.

    Algorithmic automation

Another new proposal presented was LUCA Suite, a solution which automates the algorithmic model training process. Telefónica says LUCA Suite speeds up launch times and reduces costs in big data projects.
