ZTE becomes latest vendor to pave way for operators to 5G

    -

ZTE has built an integrated 5G solution for operators, comprising wireless access, core and bearer networks, that it said is aimed at fast-track deployments of next generation technology.

The solution, which was launched to coincide with MWC Shanghai this week, uses a cloud-based network architecture design and will support forthcoming 5G standards.

ZTE said a network slicing function is built to support a range of service and application scenarios, as well as being flexible enough to adapt to operators’ and their customers’ business models.

It added that the function’s closed loop app development and operation system, which is based on a DevOps framework, helps operators to build, release and deploy new services quickly.

A Cloud ServCore core network is based on cloud-native architecture. Users define network functions and capabilities so they can be appropriate for the development, testing, release and ongoing tweaking of solutions.

ZTE said its 5G Flexhaul bearer network provides ultra-low latencies, flexible capacities and dynamic network resources adjustment thanks to software defined networking. These features will help satisfy the needs of operators to deliver flexible, efficient and future-proof 5G networks.

The vendor said it wanted the new solution to act as a bridge between LTE and 5G networks. Its Pre5G Massive MIMO solution, for example, can have its capabilities changed through a software upgrade.

Earlier this month, Belgian operator BASE signed a deal with ZTE to research 5G, LTE-Advanced and Internet of Things technologies.

The vendor is also working Turkcell on 5G research and fixed wireless solutions.
