Arrow targets Vodafone’s IoT tech for electronics gear

    -

Electronic components distributor Arrow Electronics is to integrate Vodafone’s Internet of Things technology into its products, after signing a deal with the operator.

Arrow will carry Vodafone’s technology in its dedicated IoT modules and developer kits, as well as sell its global IoT SIM and offer managed connectivity from the operator through its eVolve IoT initiative.

The electronics company’s eVolve range comprises hardware and software that is designed for original equipment manufacturers, enterprises and suppliers to “build, deploy and manage” IoT networks.

In a statement, Vodafone said Arrow would be able to offer global network coverage, wireless and embedded edge technology, data platforms and cloud integration, enterprise computing and app enablement for millions of devices as a result of the partnership.

Vodafone IoT director Ivo Rook said: “A strong ecosystem will be a significant driver to the future success of the IoT and we believe that relationships like this with Arrow Electronics will help to shape the sector.”

Arrow Electronics Vice President, IoT Global Solutions Aiden Mitchell described Vodafone as “a committed leader” in the IoT.

Vodafone is regarded as the leading telco in the IoT space. Last week, Phil Skipper, Head of Business Development for IoT at the operator, said he expected the connected car market to ultimately split in two between cars acting as service platforms and autonomous vehicles.
