Colibria completes sale of OMA IMPS business to Synchronica

    -

Colibria has today announced that it has completed the sale of its Open Mobile Alliance Instant Messaging and Presence Service (OMA IMPS) business to UK based Synchronica (see below for related stories). The divestment is said to allow Colibria to increase investment in core areas of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) application servers.

Colibria has seen increasing growth in SIP convergence products over the last 18 months, having won a further three new customers in Q1 2010. This is in addition to the six new customers announced in Q4 2009, proving the success of its go-to-market strategy.

Colibria's portfolio consists of the following products:
    –    SIP Instant Messaging Server – providing rich multimedia messaging infrastructure components for all IP/IP capable networks, and building the basis for the evolution to Convergent IP Messaging (CPM).
    –    SIP Presence Server – providing key enablers such as real time status and service availability, enhancing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), driving Push to Talk over Cellular (PoC), and fundamental to the GSMA's Rich Communication Suite (RCS).
    –    XDMS Servers – providing contact, group, list, and policy management for Presence, IM, and Network Address Book deployments.
    –    Social Network Gateway and Internet Instant Messaging Gateway – integrating and interfacing messaging and presence with existing services like Windows Live Messenger and Facebook Chat.

Diane Myers, Directing Analyst at Infonetics Research commented, "Colibria's move to focus on the convergence market appears well timed with the IMS equipment market seeing increasing momentum worldwide with sales in 2009 up 142% over 2008 and expected to reach $1.44 billion by 2014. We have seen particular growth in Rich Communication Suite, LTE trials, enhanced mobile IM, and presence services – all areas that Colibria are embedded in as a leading independent vendor."

Bjørn Erik Reinseth, Chairman of the Colibria AS board commented, "This is an incredibly exciting time for Colibria. We are now positioned to capitalise on the increasing adoption of SIP Convergence services globally and meet the demand that we see from our customers and partners as operators move to all IP solutions."
