Love is in the air as Cisco and Apple settle dispute over iPhone trademark

    -

Cisco and Apple have announced that they have resolved their dispute over the ‘iPhone’ trademark.

Last month Apple announced its iPod-based mobile phone would be called iPhone, but Cisco had registered the name in 2000, announcing it would take legal proceedings to prevent Apple using it.

Now, according to the agreement, both companies are free to use the ‘iPhone’ trademark on their products throughout the world, and both acknowledge the trademark ownership rights that have been granted.

This effectively means that each side will dismiss any pending actions regarding the trademark.

In addition, Cisco and Apple have also announced that they will explore opportunities for interoperability in the areas of security, and consumer and enterprise communications.

Other terms of the agreement have not been made public.
