JDSU has today announced new features to its widely deployed Remote Cellular Automated Test System (RCATS), part of the company’s portfolio of service assurance solutions that help operators ensure high quality of mobile services. RCATS version 9.0 includes support for HSDPA and provides mobile operators with expanded data and graphic views of the monitoring results of their subscriber services. The new RCATS solutions enhance the ability of mobile operators to actively monitor and improve the quality of services they deliver to their end customers.
RCATS was developed by Casabyte, acquired by JDSU on January 23, 2007. The acquisition establishes JDSU as a leading provider of service quality monitoring solutions for mobile network operators and gives customers exceptional support for the complex delivery of quad-play services delivered over converged fixed-mobile networks. JDSU’s innovative wireless test portfolio and partnerships will be on display in Hall 2, booth 2B88 and 2A78.
Key features of RCATS 9.0 include compelling data views as well as graphic-rich displays that robustly capture the results of monitoring a mobile service subscriber’s quality. Mobile operators can color-code graphics or data views, for example, specific to the type of test and monitoring that interests them. The new RCATS solution further empowers wireless operators to ensure service quality in the network and address the deployment challenges associated with service delivery.
“The complexities of fixed-mobile network and service convergence create new quality challenges for service providers worldwide,” said Bill Tomeo, vice president of the JDSU’s Service Assurance Solutions division. “JDSU’s complete ‘head end to handset’ service assurance test solutions give operators the ability to quickly, reliably and cost-effectively prevent network degradation that can impair voice, data, and video service quality.”
RCATS, a widely deployed test probe supporting the quality delivery of wireless services, is automated and centrally managed for the continuous monitoring of end-user services to ensure consistency of availability and performance. Wireless service providers can proactively address problems before they affect the customer, differentiate service offerings and drive down service costs. An essential part of the RCATS solution is the Service Validation Package (SVP) components that help providers establish the exact monitoring solution for a complete package of basic voice, supplementary services, basic data, WAP, SMS, MMS, voice quality, and IVR quality needs. RCATS is compatible with U.S. and international wireless protocols 2G (CDMA, GSM & TDMA), as well as 2.5G (1xRTT, EDGE & GPRS), 3G (UMTS, HSDPA & 1xEV-DO).
