Elektrobit introduced the air interface emulator Propsim FE to the market in early 2005. After the successful launch, customers worldwide have adopted this scalable solution for various applications, such as 2G, 3G, 3.9G and digital broadcasting. Elektrobit is now introducing a new version of the product with even more compelling functionality. The main features of the new product version are Automatic Routing Unit (ARU) and support for up to four fading channels.
Equipped with the integrated ARU option, Propsim FE enables testing of multiband handset devices with a single connection. The ARU option allows users to select between multiple different operating bands. The connections are made inside the emulator and are straightforward to configure with the graphical user interface. The ready-made connection templates make transition from one test case to another straightforward and easy to manage without the need to change cabling in the test setup.
Propsim FE equipped with the ARU option is a single-box solution with up to two RF channels for platform, product and pre-conformance test teams performing product integration and verification testing of handsets supporting GSM/EDGE/GPRS, CDMA, CDMA2000 or WCDMA.
Propsim FE air interface emulator also supports the integrated generation of AWGN and modulated interference signals along with channel emulation capabilities. With the ARU option the Propsim FE offers a solution to perform WCDMA and GSM user equipment conformance test cases, even those including noise and interference signals as required in conformance test specifications.
The availability of up to four fading channel configurations provides support for MIMO, 3GPP HSxPA Tx/Rx diversity and Antenna Array System (beamforming) testing. The channel emulation capabilities of Propsim FE enable emulation of all standard and future channel models. The channel modelling tools available with Propsim FE allow users to create correlating MIMO models based on complex (amplitude and phase) correlation matrices or DoA using antenna geometry. Propsim FE is also capable of emulating any user defined or measured channel models.
The new version of Propsim FE introduces Automatic Input Level Setting (AILS) that simplifies assembly of the test setup. It also provides a real-time input and output signal power measurement feature for FDD and TDD signals as well as support for Channel Sequence Simulation (CSS).
