3GSM 2007: Ericsson to demonstrate live LTE at 144Mbps

    -

Ericsson has announced today that it will conduct a live demonstration of its cutting-edge Long-Term Evolution (LTE) system supporting Multiple In Multiple Out (MIMO) antenna technology with speeds of up to 144Mbps at 3GSM World Congress.

LTE is the next mobile broadband network standard, defined by 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project), set for release in 2007.

Ericsson’s LTE demonstration will encompass a variety of applications and showcase speeds up to 144Mbps on a 20MHz carrier in the 2.6GHz frequency band.

Ulf Ewaldsson, Vice President and Head of Product Area Radio, Ericsson, says: “This demonstration marks the next evolutionary step in mobile communication and confirms Ericsson’s commitment to LTE.”

LTE supports operations in both the paired spectrum (FDD) and unpaired spectrum (TDD). Channel bandwidths of 1.25-20MHz are supported. LTE enables efficient spectrum utilization for both legacy and future wireless frequency bands. The large wireless industry behind LTE ensures economies of scale, providing very cost-efficient solutions.
