3GSM 2007: C3 to demonstrate the latest features of its video-to-mobile software

Seteca 2.0 is a complete system that allows any kind of content provider or service provider to run a commercial video data service combining voice, text and data. Menus on the caller’s 3G handset drive the service and the software provides delivery mechanisms for the video with a variety of billing options including credit card, video short code and subscription.

Seteca 2.0 displays clear menus on the handset along with the video, making services easy to use. The caller can input account numbers and credit card payment numbers at the handset as well as choosing menu options. This new live text overlay facility will make it possible to cross-sell services. If the service provider has CLI (Caller Line Identification) they can also personalise the message to the caller.

C3 has also added an Image overlay feature so that service providers can build pictures, logos and images into the phone display.

Callers will have the option of sending personalised video messages by selecting from several menu options on the handset. This feature could be used to extend call durations in the value-added services sector.

    Video Manager
C3’s video manager software provides a selection of templates to set up new applications. A basic application might use just an introduction, one video data file and one voice file. More complex services might use more than one kind of content with a menu structure. C3 also offers readymade templates for quizzes and one-to-one video calls with or without audio. This means that content providers can set up new applications as they wish or provide services for 3rd parties.

    Seteca database
The database behind Seteca 2.0 records details of callers, services they have used, call durations and the menu choices that indicate their preferences. Content providers will be able to build large customer files and tailor new “opt-in” services to them.

“Social networking is driving the growth of 3G video calls,” says John Wood, managing director of C3 Ltd.  “Call volumes and revenues are up and more users are aware of the services. This is the ideal time to move into new revenue-generating services.”
