Vodafone has appointed Vittorio Colao its new European head. Colao will join the board on 9 October as chie executive of the European region.
Colao has been ceo of Italian publishing group RCS MediaGroup for the last two years, but before that held a numbr of Vodafoe jobs.
He was Chief Executive of Vodafone Italy and subsequently had regional responsibility for Southern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He was a member of the Vodafone Group Board from 2002 to 2004.
He will also succeed Sir Julian Horn-Smith as Deputy Chief Executive.
