Sunrise jumps into ngena alliance for SD-WAN boost

    -

Sunrise is set to offer SD-WAN to its Swiss and international enterprise customers after joining the ngena alliance.

The Swiss operator joins 16 other telcos including A1 Telekom Austria Group, KPN, and T-Systems. The alliance has built a shared software-defined network to offer its members global SD-WAN services from a central technology platform.

Sunrise’s enterprise customers can purchase a selection of access designs, access bandwidths and SLAs. The Swiss operator will then manage those connections via the ngena portal.

Other members of the alliance will be able to benefit from Sunrise’s internet and ethernet capabilities. This partnership will allow them to offer their customers new kinds of solutions without having to tap into separate network gateways or negotiate individual agreements with Swiss telcos.

Sunrise’s Chief Business Officer Robert Wigger said: “Our ability to utilise ngena’s global networks and the associated SD-WAN services will help us further expand our services for internationally active customers in particular and thus enable us to grow more rapidly in the market for business customers.”

Marcus Hacke, Founder and Managing Director at ngena, added: “With Sunrise we have won a strong partner that can deliver to our global alliance partners: high-quality access to the Swiss market via its strong local network.

“At the same time, Swiss customers of Sunrise benefit from ngena’s global SD-WAN, which is available in approx. 200 countries across the world.”

Last year, ngena founding member T-Systems launched the Alliance’s first product, an SD-WAN based hybrid VPN.
