Hi3G deploys CSFB for LTE voice with Mavenir Systems

    -

Hi3G Access AB (Hi3G) Sweden has selected Mavenir Systems to support delivery of Circuit Switch Fallback (CSFB) for its LTE users.

Circuit Switch Fallback (CSFB) enables circuit-switched voice and SMS services to be delivered to LTE handsets so they "fall back" to the 3G network to complete voice calls. With CSFB, Hi3G can support LTE-enabled smartphones for voice and SMS.

“CSFB is essential to the introduction of LTE smartphones before VoLTE is introduced. We selected Mavenir because of their proven CSFB technology, their speed to market and the ease of integrating into our LTE network,” said Mr. Magnus Berg, project owner at Hi3G.

Mavenir said that its VoLTE IWF (InterWorking Function) would enable Hi3G to get the system up and the network ready quickly with minimal impact on the current network.

“We are happy to bring our agility and speed to Hi3G with our VoLTE IWF system,” said Pardeep Kohli, president and chief executive officer of Mavenir Systems. “We remain focused on delivering differentiated solutions for customers that enable mobile network operators to offer next generation enhanced communication services.”

Both functions supported by Mavenir’s VoLTE IWF, CSFB and SRVCC, share the same hardware and software platform, Mavenir’s ATCA-based, mOne Convergence Platform.

Hi3G ACCESS AB (Hi3G) is a joint venture between Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. (60%) and Investor AB (40%). Hi3G Access AB has subsidiaries in Sweden and Denmark and today Hi3G owns and operates commercial 3G networks in Sweden and Denmark.
