Telenor Connexion rolls out deal for smart mowers

    -

Telenor Connexion will power a fleet of connected lawnmowers and associated services after signing a global deal with Husqvarna Group.

The outdoor products company is building a range of robotic lawnmowers that will include features such as remote monitoring through smartphones, an anti-theft system and built-in safety measures.

Manufacturing of the new mowers will begin this summer, with Telenor Connexion providing automated services through a global SIM, access to a control portal and around the clock assistance.

Husqvarna Group operates in more than 100 countries and has been a pioneer in the smart mower space. In 1995, it launched the first-ever solar-powered robotic mower.

Mats Lundquist, CEO of Telenor Connexion, said: “Husqvarna is harnessing the power of the Internet of Things to make its equipment smarter and more efficient. We are proud both of this collaboration and to provide a complete connectivity solution that support Husqvarna’s efforts and look forward to a long-term partnership.”

Telenor Connexion has also recently signed connectivity deals with smart meter company Kamstrup and Chinese logistics company CIMC.

The deal is the latest innovative use of IoT in products and services. Earlier this month, Vodafone announced it was using the tracking of seals to determine how best to use cellular technology to send information during a limited window.
