Tele2 CTIO Joachim Horn is leaving the Nordic telco to take up a role at an Asian operator.
Niklas Sonkin, currently executive Vice President Central Europe and Eurasia, will become acting CTIO for the Group until a replacement is found.
Horn first joined Tele2 in 2011 as an Executive Vice President and CTIO. Among the recent projects completed by the operator are the rollout of 4G to its Internet of Things network. The operator was targeting the car, security and advertising sectors with the connectivity.
Other achievements include a €50 million network upgrade project in the Baltics, which saw 4G rolled out in Estonia and 450 network sites improved.
Horn helped build Tele2 to offer 99 percent population coverage of its LTE network. He was an advocate of low frequency spectrum being sweated by operators for both LTE and 5G use, arguing indoor coverage was a must-have service.
Mats Granryd, President and CEO of Tele2 AB comments: “Joachim has been a great asset to the company and an appreciated colleague during these years. I would personally like to thank him for his hard work and contributions to Tele2. I wish Joachim the best of luck in his coming endeavors.”
Joachim Horn said: “I truly enjoyed my time at Tele2 and I’m glad I was able to contribute to the company’s success. I’d like to thank Mats for his great leadership and my colleagues and my fabulous team for an outstanding collaboration. I’m absolutely confident that Tele2 will continue to be successful in challenging the industry.”
